Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)

Also known as Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy, PEMF is a non-invasive treatment that uses targeted electromagnetic pulses to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and support the body’s natural healing processes.
Often described as a massage for the cells, PEMF enhances blood flow, oxygenation, and detoxification at the cellular level. It's safe, drug-free, and widely used in both human and equine rehabilitation for its ability to relieve pain and accelerate recovery.
How PEMF Works
Every living cell carries a natural electrical charge maintained by the flow of ions in and out of its membrane. When a cell is injured, inflamed, or stressed, that ion flow is disrupted—leading to decreased function and delayed healing.
PEMF “exercises” the cells by restoring ionic movement and recharging the membrane potential, which helps to:
- Improve oxygen and nutrient uptake
- Eliminate waste and toxins more efficiently
- Reduce pain, swelling, and stiffness
- Restore healthy cellular energy
- Accelerate regeneration and tissue repair
Think of it as cellular-level physical therapy—boosting the body’s ability to heal, recover, and function more efficiently.
PEMF Benefits for Horses
PEMF is especially useful for horses in training, recovery, or rehab—but it's beneficial for any horse needing support at the cellular level.
It can help with:

- Improved range of motion and performance
- Early detection of soreness or subtle pain
- Recovery from soft tissue injuries
- Increased circulation and oxygenation
- Reduced inflammation and tissue stiffness
- Relaxation of tight muscles and fascia
- Support for non-sweaters or gut discomfort
- Faster recovery from illness, hauling, or competition
- Hoof growth and metabolic balance
- Pain relief, anxiety reduction, and nervous system regulation
- Immune system support and cellular detox
PEMF is FDA-approved in human medicine for promoting bone repair, wound healing, and pain reduction—and those same benefits translate powerfully to equine and small animal applications.
What to Expect in a Session
During a session, I use PEMF coils to target specific areas based on your horse’s needs—such as sore muscles, stiff joints, or post-performance fatigue. Most horses relax into treatment, often yawning, chewing, or dozing off.
Each session is customized based on your horse’s history, workload, and current goals—whether it’s recovery, performance prep, or general wellness.
