    Frequently Asked Questions

    What does equine bodywork involve?

Equine bodywork uses hands-on techniques and supportive therapies to help address muscular tension, restricted movement, compensation patterns, and overall comfort. Each session is tailored to the individual horse based on what Rachel observes and feels during the session.

How do I know which service my horse needs?

You do not need to choose a specific modality before scheduling. Rachel evaluates the horse as a whole and may integrate equine massage, myofascial techniques, acupressure, craniosacral therapy, PEMF, cold laser, or kinesiology taping when appropriate.

How often should my horse receive bodywork?

Frequency depends on the horse’s workload, age, comfort, movement patterns, and individual needs. Some horses benefit from regular maintenance sessions, while others may only need occasional support during training changes, rehabilitation, or periods of increased workload.

Can my horse be ridden after an equine bodywork session?

That depends on the techniques used and how the horse responds. Light movement may be appropriate after some sessions, while certain types of work may require additional recovery time. Rachel will provide specific recommendations at the end of the session.

Does equine bodywork replace veterinary care?

No. Equine bodywork is a supportive service and does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment. Rachel works within her professional scope and may recommend consulting your veterinarian, farrier, saddle fitter, or another member of your horse’s care team when appropriate.

What areas does Balanced Holistic Therapies serve?

Balanced Holistic Therapies is based in NW Ocala, Florida, and serves horse owners throughout Ocala, the World Equestrian Center area, Reddick, Dunnellon, Williston, Gainesville, and surrounding communities. Travel availability may vary depending on location and scheduling.
